I came home from work yesterday, 10/24, I was greeted with a couple items that I impulsively purchased online. One of which was Tom Waits’ new album “Bad as Me”. His first album in 7 years of completely new material.
If you’re a regular listener to our Podcast, you can tell even by the opening/closing song, that we have a thing for Tom’s music. Personally, “Heart of Saturday Night” was the first album I had heard of his and it will always hold a special place in my wife’s heart and mine. I know Hoover has his favorite as well for his own reasons. I think that’s exactly what music should do, it should be strong enough that it last through the years and the moment you listen to it again it takes you right back to that place.
Fortunately, I signed up for the TomWaits.com mailing list and it informed me that you could stream the whole album days before the release. The wife and I went up to San Francisco for our anniversary and we played that album about 5 times in the 3 days we were there. It’s hard for me to really explain what this guy’s music means to me, all I can say is, if you’ve listened to Tom Waits before and you liked it, you’ll know what I mean. If you’ve listened to him and you didn’t quite like what you’ve heard, try another album. Each is unique and he’s been around for so long and influenced so many other musician’s music that you probably DO like and didn’t even realize.
Scoop up yourself a copy of this or ANY of his albums, it’s worth your time/money.

I assume these were created after the latest Mad Men rip-off “The Playboy Club”. Either way, the idea of Christina Hendricks, January Jones & Alison Brie in Playboy is enough for me…
All thanks go to Tauntr.com for putting this together and building up my hopes for any one of these issues and then tearing them down again…
So, don’t know if you’ve noticed but it seems like the new NBC show “The Playboy Club” is a pretty blatant rip-off of Mad Men. The similarities include: a Don Draper look-alike, excess consumption of scotch and blatant sexual harassment in the workplace. All obvious Mad Men trademarks. So, we are ripping back. Here is what Playboy could have had, if they had played their cards right and simply cashed in on the Draper harem like the rest of the internet.

Welcome back Beardo’s!
It’s been a while since our last new Podcast, and I think 13 is a good number per “season”. So we’re bringing you season 2!
This is more of our usual nonsense, Hoover makes a Washington Apple variation cocktail (that’s fantastic, BTW), we chat about Sons of Anarchy, and we end up gushing about a local restaurant called Ramos House in San Juan Capistrano so much that we ended up scheduling one of our Sunday Funday’s around it.
Enjoy!

This is what happens when you don’t have TV and are too busy for the internet. You’re last to the party on some cool stuff!
“The series follows a devoted group of whisker warriors as they travel the country competing for top bearding honors in preparation for the World Championship Competition in Trondhjem, Norway. Historically, Germany has long dominated the field but now there is an upstart squad on the horizon – Beard Team USA. In an effort to solidify their standing, more than 80 local U.S. chapters are coming together to form the ultimate American bearding team. Self-appointed Captain of Beard Team USA, Phil Olsen will lead them in their attempt to stage an upset and bring home the World title. However, Phil’s quest quickly shifts from building the team to holding it together as his motives come into question and tensions flare between his star players.”
Yeah, ‘Nuff Said!
I need to find a way to watch this… Hmmm… Dear Internets…
