Episode 104: Getting Our Sea Legs, of Turkey

In this Pre-Christmas Podcast we fixed up some Hot Whiskeys, perfect cold weather drink!  I share my adventures in Ireland, Hoover drops really bad jokes and we release the Kracken!

We chat about Pauly Shore and his role in Scott Pilgrim vs.The World and the generation of nerd film makers.  David Fincher makes his way into the discussion and the sudden surge of American directors taking brand new foreign films and remaking them 2 years later.

We also get a little personal and we pimp our own shit, the films we just finished “The Juice”, “Denim Heat” & “Bloodsucka Jones”.  (links and videos coming soon)

Hoover talks about The Derby, a dueling piano bar in South Orange County at The Kaleidoscope.  I ramble on about You & I Sushi in Laguna Hills.

Cheers!

Hot Whiskey

As I mentioned in the Podcast, Hot Whiskeys are one of my favorite drinks.  They take me back to the tiny ol’ town of Doolin, on the west coast of Ireland.  They’re the perfect way to warm up on a cold day and what better way than to get plastered and STILL smell like sunshine, rainbows & lemon Pledge.

This is how to make a traditional Hot Whiskey.

What you’ll need:

A (Irish) coffee glass

Cloves

Hot Water

Sugar

a Lemon

& Your favorite Irish whiskey (Jameson)

Start by warming or prepping your glass with hot water and let it sit for about 3 minutes.  While you wait, take a lemon and cut it into slices.  Take half of a lemon slice and poke 3-5 cloves into the fruit, not the rind, & drop into the glass.  Next take a teaspoon of sugar or 2 sugar cubes & drop into the glass.  Pour 1 shotglass of whiskey into the glass & fill up the rest of the glass with HOT water.

Obviously, you’re going to want to let that sit for a minute before you start throwing it back, but once it’s cooled a bit, THEN enjoy.

I hope you dig this drink as much as I do, and if you don’t, at least you still have a bottle of whiskey to take your mind off of it!

Leave a comment, let me know what you think and if you have any variations of it, I’m always down for new ways to get hammered!

Cheers!
