Episode 109: Getting Hungry With the Natives

Welcome to Episode 9, ‘yall!

This Episode was recorded the same day as Episode 8, but we switched it up and recorded with stick mics instead of the built-in mics on the Zoom H4n recorder.

We drank good ol’ Whiskey Sours.  Easy as that.

Our movies this week were “Boy Eats Girl”, “Monsters” by Garreth Edwards and “The Parking Lot Movie”.

Under our new Music/Comedy/Podcast segment, we talk about the “Mike and Tom Eat Snacks” Podcast, the “Red State of the Union” Podcast, shoutout to the “Nerdist” Podcast and the “Pod F. Tompkast”.

Hoover graciously breaks down the Happy Hour menu at Fisherman’s in San Clemente, CA.

Cheers!

Episode 108: Hunting Wild Pigs and Looking for Food Also

Episode 8 is live!  This episode we sat down and caught the vapors while drinking Mint Juleps.

We discuss the “Exit Through the Gift Shop” and “King of Kong” documentaries.

We finally added “Podcasts” to our neglected Music/Comedy section.  So I give a couple recommendations and share my story about my trip to San Diego and watching one of my favorite bands “The Decemberists”.

Hoover gives us a couple minutes of what he thinks of El Molino in San Juan, CA.

Enjoy folks!

Episode 107: Rummaging Around for Booty

Yo-Ho listeners!

After a few comments/suggestions from listener(s), we needed to throw out a disclaimer about the facts that we blurt out of our mouths.  We are in no way experts, we just play them on a Podcast.

We drank several Old Fashioneds and Hoover breaks down the history of the drink, really interesting story.  We made these semi-traditionally.  Normally they’re made with Canadian Rye Whiskey, these were made with a Kentucky Rye.

By the way, I ramble on again about this amazing Scottish Pub on Oregon City, OR called The Highland Stills.  One of my favorite places I’ve ever been.  HANDS DOWN.  Holy crap, they have Red Breast too.  You know what, here’s a few pictures of their Wall o’ Whiskey and some of their dishes…

Pint of Speckled Hen and a glass of Red Breast.  PHENOMENAL!

Baked Mac and Cheese, Sausages and Artichoke Crab Dip.  Once again, incredible.

The Whiskey Bible I mention is written by Jim Murray.  I’ll follow up with my review when I finally get a copy.

We watched the great Stand-Up comedy Documentary, I Am Comic and Robocop 1 and 2 with their Twitter Bots.  NEWS UPDATE! As I am writing this little blog post, there is a lot of Twitter chat about a Robocop statue that will be erected in Detroit.  Seriously.  Look.

I retell a story about when I got to see/meet Mitch Hedburg.

We ate at the “Bowling Galley“, a food truck extravaganza at Lake Forest Lanes.  Hoover gushes over  The White Rabbit food truck’s carnitas, The Burnt Truck’s sliders and Hulking out on people over food.  BTW, get into Crepes Bonaparte while you’re there…!  And I mentioned Kogi BBQ is amazing, though they aren’t part of the Galley, they’re still amazing.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

- Brad

Episode 105: The Winds of Spare Change

COME! LISTEN! TO BRAD! NERD THE F**K OUT ABOUT SPIDER-MAN FOR TOO LONG!

Things like this happen when you drink too much Jack Daniels, which is exactly what we’re doing.  Our choice of beverage this week is my/our favorite drink in the whole fucking world, Jack n’ Coke, the most ‘Murican cocktail on EITHER side of the Mississippi.

The movies this episode are “CSA – Confederate States of America”, “Touching the Void”, “Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work”,  and the terrible “Focker” movies.

We chatted about current and past comedy albums & stand-up shows & Hoover recaps his experience at a Rodger Waters concert.

I love “I Love Bagels”, Hoover rambles on about “Utz Pub Mix”.  Though I did go to his house after this and I think I ate the whole tub of these, so, well done Hoovie.

Enjoy!

Cheers!

Episode 104: Getting Our Sea Legs, of Turkey

In this Pre-Christmas Podcast we fixed up some Hot Whiskeys, perfect cold weather drink!  I share my adventures in Ireland, Hoover drops really bad jokes and we release the Kracken!

We chat about Pauly Shore and his role in Scott Pilgrim vs.The World and the generation of nerd film makers.  David Fincher makes his way into the discussion and the sudden surge of American directors taking brand new foreign films and remaking them 2 years later.

We also get a little personal and we pimp our own shit, the films we just finished “The Juice”, “Denim Heat” & “Bloodsucka Jones”.  (links and videos coming soon)

Hoover talks about The Derby, a dueling piano bar in South Orange County at The Kaleidoscope.  I ramble on about You & I Sushi in Laguna Hills.

Cheers!

Episode 103: Braving the Storm of Gravy

By this time, we’ve finally found our name. Coincidentally we’re starting to find our voice and our stride, so if you start at this episode, we’re pretty good, if you’ve listened to the others, we’re getting better!

This episode, we were drinking Presbyterians and gettin’ all Holy wit’ it!

Cheers!
